Leicestershire Employment &
Skills Programme

Throughout 2024, we were funded by the Leicestershire County Council and the NHS, to deliver employment support for Leicestershire residents with or at risk of mental health challenges. This support included:
Mental Health at Work Specialism
We have nearly 30 years combined experience of working with individuals who have mental health problems and other barriers to support them into employment.

We are able to provide guidance about protections in UK employment law around reasonable adjustments as well as disclosure of mental health problem(s) to employers.

One-to-One
Employment Advice
Sessions with a personal employment adviser - face-to-face at an Employment Clinic in your district, by phone or online depending on client preference.
Supporting individuals on their journey to finding and sustaining paid employment, voluntary work or a learning opportunity.
Employment Clinics
We ran these advice clinics across the county on set days and times.
We believe in helping individuals in community locations local to them

Get Work-Ready
We helped ensure that when an individual was ready for paid employment they had prepared for the Right to Work in the UK checks. These are checks everyone has to undertake by having the correct documents, as well as a bank account and National Insurance number.
This means that when a job offer is made, individuals can move into work without delay.
CV Writing
A CV is an important tool for getting into work, however, there is an art to showcasing your skills and making a good impression.
At Real Purpose we have the skills, experience and tools to craft a CV which will appeal to recruiters and employers. This helps an individual to believe in themselves and see all they have to offer.

Application Support
This support was vital in helping individuals secure jobs or voluntary work, as we assisted them in navigating the often-confusing online application systems now widely used by employers and placement providers.
Interview Preparation
Interviews with employers and placement providers are an inevitable part of the journey into work, yet they often are daunting and provoke anxiety.

Our team supported individuals by helping them prepare, offering face-to-face or online group sessions on interview techniques, and providing mock interviews with our staff to practice for the real thing, along with constructive feedback.

Training
Our tutor led sessions both in-person or online for our clients.

-
Building Confidence and Motivation in Employment, Volunteering and Learning
-
Empowering You for Employment, Volunteering and Learning

These were designed to build confidence and develop essential skills and tools needed to succeed.
Employer Connections
Our team worked with local employers to place suitably prepared and skilled individuals in roles that benefited their businesses.
We built strong relationships to support new employees through their induction and help them sustain their jobs while also providing ongoing assistance to employers.

In-Work Support
We know that the benefits to someone's mental health comes from not just securing employment but being able to sustain this.

After helping individuals find work, we provided in-work support appointments to help them stay employed and feel supported in their roles.
Job Retention
We supported individuals in retaining their jobs by offering guidance on returning to work after sick leave, negotiating reasonable adjustments with employers, and providing regular in-work support over the phone.
